Day #77

Friday, July 21, 2000

Telephone report from Vickie Stafford, Mayor, tells of significant progress having been made over the past two weeks.  Almost all of the eastern half of Formoso is now being served by the new water system.  As one can see from the map, water is now in the lines following Howe, Spenser, Patterson and Quy streets, as well as all along Omio Road.

The volunteers are now focused on Main Street.  The team rented a boring machine and tunneled under the sidewalk in the downtown area, providing service to the Post Office, the Senior Citizens Center and the bank without tearing up the curb & gutter and sidewalk in front of those establishments.   The report is the approach was "slick" and easier then anticipated.

Work will continue next week to the south end of Main Street.  From there work will probably go back up on Patterson and to the west of Main.
