How to Request NCKCN to House Your Virtual Domain

Please look at our Virtual Domain prices at http://www.nckcn.com/Prices/VirtualServer.htm. There are several different processes to switch over your domain to NCKCN. Depending on the way your domain was set up in the first place will determine the best way to proceed.

Scenario 1: If you are in charge of your domain and can administer the DNS servers your domain is under your self, you will set the NCKCN DNS servers to be authoritative for your domain:

  • Let us know how you wish to publish your domain; using an FTP client, (most often), or Microsoft FrontPage. We will set up your site so you can publish your domain. You can publish your files before you get everything switched. Your domain will still be available at the old site.
  • Contact  your Registrar (the entity used to register our Domain, such as Verisign, TUCOWS,  etc...) Let us know when you are ready to have our DNS servers authoritative for your domain. You will want to specify the DNS servers as: ns1.nckcn.com for a DNS host, with the IP address of  199.0.207.130 and ns2.nckcn.com for another DNS host, with the IP address of  199.0.207.131. (Note: don't switch the DNS servers until you are completely ready, your domain will be unavailable if you don't have everything setup up correctly)

Scenario 2: If you are in charge or have someone in charge of your domain and simply wish to point your domain to the new IP address your self:

  • Let us know how you wish to publish your domain; using an FTP client, (most often), or Microsoft FrontPage. We will set up your site so you can publish your domain. You can publish your files before you get everything switched. Your domain will still be available at the old site.
  • We will let you know what IP address to set your Domain to on our servers.
  • Contact whoever is in charge of doing DNS for your domain and have them set up the IP address of your domain as we have given you in the stop above.  (Note: don't switch the IP addresses until you are completely ready, your domain will be unavailable if you don't have everything setup up correctly)

Scenario 3: If you are in charge or have someone in charge of your domain and wish to switch everything  with your domain to NCKCN, so that we are authoritative and take care of your registration:

  • Let us know how you wish to publish your domain; using an FTP client, (most often), or Microsoft FrontPage. We will set up your site so you can publish your domain. You can publish your files before you get everything switched. Your domain will still be available at the old site.
  • Contact us at admin@nckcn.com, so we can generate a "Modify Domain Request". This may take a little time to get everything switched over. We will set up the DNS and we will then take care of your domain so that you only have to contact us for all your domain needs.
