Beloit Fire Station

The City of Beloit was awarded a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) by the Kansas Department of Commerce & Housing in 1998 to construct a fire station.  The project was completed in the Spring of 2000 and formally dedicated in July 2000.   The total CDBG cost is estimated to be less then $300,000.

Wise Construction, Cawker City, provided and erected the metal building in accordance to the design of DMA Architects of Salina.  The remaining work (i.e., all concrete, electrical, plumbing, sheet rock and dirt work) was performed by city staff, members of the volunteer fire department, and students of the North Central Kansas Technical College.

Dave Fraser, City Administrator, is shown here with Marilyn Graham, CDBG Program Administrator for KDOCH, and Connie Cyr, Housing Director for the North Central Regional Planning Commission, during an informal tour of the fire station.

Inside the new facility, Dave Fraser explains the many features to Marilyn Graham, Debbie Beck (also with KDOCH and coordinator of economic development programs) and Connie Cyr.
