Mac OS 8.5 + ARA Test

(This is an ongoing experiment, please be patient)

The following steps are to set the Command Line Host option in Apple Remote Access (ARA) to solve the connection bug Mac users with OS 8.5 and above.

1. First, access the Apple menu and select Control Panels... then select the Remote Access control panel. Select the Options button as shown below.

2. Now select the Connect to a command-line host: and make sure the Use terminal window option is selected as shown below. Then click the OK button.

3. Now close the Remote Access control panel. You will be prompted to save your configuration. Click on the Save button.

4. Connect to the Internet as you normally do. After the modem dials, you will receive a dialog box with a login prompt as shown below. Simply let the screen sit for a couple of seconds and click the Continue button. Note:  You do not have to type in anything, simply let the dialog box sit for a couple of seconds.

That's it. After you click the Continue button, you can use the Internet as you normally do. We're not sure this will fix the problem or even help, but it's a start.
