Jewell City Project

People continue to sign the registry as a crowd exceeding 250 gathered from all over North Central Kansas on Monday, July 24, 2000 to watch as Governor Graves dedicated the Jewell Community Center.

This photo shows the size and seating capabilities of the community room.

Bill Loomis, Mayor, welcomes the crowd as Governor Graves and Calvin James look on.

An attentive crowd looks on during the opening ceremonies.

Governor Graves is shown pictured here with Griest and Marilyn Reed, curators of the "Lincoln Room".  Mr. and Mrs. Reed have a large collection of items associated with President Lincoln and have leased one of the two business spaces in the Jewell Community Center to display their collection.
